father's heart
We walk along the ocean shore, my son and I
He is just two, I carry him when we cross the rocks
he trusts me without question, I love him without limit
We walk along a wooded path, he steps around the puddles
I show him the delight of walking through them
Now he eagerly walks into the puddles, how I love my son
Running fast along the muddy trail I pull him in his wagon
A wheel falls off, throwing my son into the muck
We laugh at this happy misfortune, still he trusts me
Everything is new to him, exciting and boundless
We share the wonder and joy in this life,
of the World around us and each other
I did nothing to deserve such a wonderful child
God has entrusted me with this priceless joy
I weep from the overwhelming delight in my son
He is twenty six now and still captures my heart
I wonder at the love he holds for me
I thank God for this man, my child, my son
